Village Creek Farm and Garden

Our mission is to create--in conjunction with UC Berkeley departments and faculty--an agricultural education resource for the Albany Unified School District, the City of Albany, and the East Bay community.

With abundant fields of fresh and healthy produce, the Village Creek Farm and Gardens will be an invaluable asset to the University community as well as the communities of Berkeley and Albany.

Nested within a growing urban environment, the Gill Tract is the ideal setting for an educational farm for applied learning and progressive research, reinforcing the University’s mission of sustainable development for California.

The ten-plus acre Gill Tract, at the corners of Marin and San Pablo Avenues in Albany, rests within a thermal belt considered one of the finest horticultural zones in California. Edward Gill’s world famous roses no longer flourish here, but the land, some of which has been farmed organically for over a hundred years, remains ready to welcome an Eden of flowers, fruits and vegetables.

Like Albany Hill, the Gill Tract is a unique and irreplaceable landmark of Albany. We have a precious opportunity to bring this hidden treasure to the light of the world — creating a beautiful legacy for generations to come.
